Five candidates have filed paperwork with the Grayson County Clerk’s Office to run in the 2022 Primary Election since the last candidate filing update on November 19.

Filing paperwork with the clerk’s office was Tony Pohlman, who filed to run for 6th District Magistrate, a seat currently held by Neal Saltsman.

Incumbent William “Billy” Dallas filed to retain his seat on the Leitchfield City Council, while newcomer Jeanna Carnes also filed to run in the non-partisan Leitchfield City Council race.

Incumbents, 1st District Constable Damon Lasley and 4th District Constable Bill Dalton, filed to run for reelection.

Candidates who previously filed to run for office in 2022 include:

  • Leitchfield Mayor: Former Leitchfield City Council member Harold Miller. Incumbent Rick Embry told K105 he plans to run for reelection but has not yet filed the paperwork.
  • Leitchfield City Council: Incumbents Clayton Miller and Jessica Embry, as well as challengers Angela Gibson and Terri Haycraft — Moon Smith, a sitting city council member, told K105 he does not plan to run for reelection.
  • Caneyville City Commission: Christopher Piercy.
  • Grayson County Magistrate: Incumbents Kevin Fulkerson (1st District), Darin Whitely (2nd District), Tommy Higdon (3rd District), Damon Hornback (4th District), Brian Ashley (5th District), and Neal Saltsman (6th District) — Newcomer Ben Hodges has filed to run for 1st District Magistrate.
  • Grayson County PVA: Incumbent Ernie Perkins.
  • Grayson County Attorney: Incumbent Jeremy Logsdon and former District Court Judge Shan Embry.
  • Grayson County Judge-Executive: Incumbent Kevin Henderson.

  • Grayson County Sheriff: Incumbent Norman Chaffins. Challenger Johnny Armstrong has filed intent to run papers as an Independent.

Other than Armstrong, all candidates who have filed papers to run in the 2022 Primary Election are Republicans (Leitchfield mayor and city council races are non-partisan, as is the Caneyville City Commission race).

The deadline to file to run in the 2022 Primary Election is January 7. The 2022 Primary Election is slated for May 17, with the General Election scheduled for November 8.
