A Hardin County teenager’s 20-year prison sentence has been upheld at a re-sentencing hearing upon the teen turning 18.
Kyle Miller, of Vine Grove, was sentenced as a juvenile to 20 years in prison for choking to death his seven-year-old brother, Karsen L. Miller, in June 2019 at the brothers’ residence, according to a report by The News-Enterprise. Kyle Miller was 15 at the time of the murder.
Miller was re-sentenced as an adult by Circuit Court Judge John Simcoe, who upheld the original 20-year sentence. Simcoe could have reduced the sentence or granted the teen probation.
The newspaper reports that the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case and in 2019 Sheriff John Ward said the death clearly was not an accident.
