After the murder of a Laurel County farmer and businessman, and no arrests or fruitful leads in the ensuing two weeks, an anonymous donor has offered a considerable reward for information on the killing.

On September 25, 62-year-old Bryan McCarty was found shot to death inside his home on Maple Grove Road, about seven miles southwest of London. Laurel County deputies were responding to a welfare check on the farmer and rental property owner.

“He was very well thought of and just a gentleman. We’re quite alarmed out in rural Kentucky that we have a murder and nobody’s in jail yet,” Gilbert Acciardo with the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office told media outlets.

Laurel County Sheriff John Root announced on Monday that an anonymous donor has offered a $10,000 reward for information on the murder.

Anyone with knowledge of McCarty’s murder is asked to either call 606-864-6600, message the sheriff’s office on Facebook or email gacciardo@laurelcountysheriff.com.
