A woman with a history of drug-related convictions has been arrested with a significant amount of methamphetamine at a traffic stop in Clarkson.
Friday morning at approximately 8:00, Clarkson Police Chief Buck Meredith made contact with a 2010 Chevrolet passenger car in the 5100 block of Elizabethtown Road after receiving a traffic complaint.
Meredith executed a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, 41-year-old Jenny L. DeArmond, of Hopkinsville. During a search of DeArmond’s vehicle, Meredith located a “large amount of methamphetamine” along with “other items commonly associated with selling and using meth,” Meredith said.
DeArmond was arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
“I consider taking any number of illegal drugs off the streets a success, but when law enforcement seizes a large amount, comparable to today’s amount, the positive impact on the community is even greater,” Meredith stated.
Meredith said his investigation showed that DeArmond was just passing through the area and has no ties to Clarkson.
DeArmond was convicted in September 2019 in Muhlenberg County on two counts possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine, drug unspecified) and possession of drug paraphernalia. In July 2020, she was convicted in Muhlenberg County for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Meredith added that he would like to remind the citizens of Clarkson and the surrounding area to “please report to law enforcement when (you) see unusual activity.”
In this case, the chief received information about an “out of place car,” which led to the seizure of methamphetamine and DeArmond’s arrest.
