Two people have been killed during a police pursuit near Paducah, Kentucky State Police said.
Monday afternoon at approximately 1:45, 27-year-old Lamont X. Young, of De Soto, Illinois, fled from a McCracken County deputy who was attempting to arrest the suspect, according to state police.
As the suspect fled the deputy in a Honda Civic and approached the intersection of Hwy 60 and Cairo Road, Young ran a red light and crashed into a Ford Explorer, being driven by 60-year-old Deborah K. Burge, of Cunningham (Carlisle County).
Burge was pronounced dead at the scene. Young was airlifted to a Nashville, Tennessee, hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Police have not released information on why the deputy was trying to arrest Young.
The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the incident.
