A Leitchfield felon accused of pointing a gun at a Grayson County Detention Center employee, and who was arrested on drug charges a week later, has been indicted on seven counts.

Jamie D. Felty, 45, was indicted by a Grayson County Grand Jury in two separate indictments for possession of a controlled substance (heroin), promoting contraband (heroin), two counts of persistent felony offender, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, first-degree wanton endangerment, and second-degree criminal trespassing.

The indictments stem from an incident in early April 2021 where Felty went to the home of a Grayson County Detention Center employee and pointed a gun at the victim’s head.

Felty was arrested six days later on St. Paul Road after law enforcement received a tip on his location. While being processed into the Grayson County Detention Center, staff members located heroin on his person.

According to the Kentucky Department of Corrections, Felty was convicted in 2016 in Grayson County for second-degree theft of a controlled substance (second or greater offense) and second-degree burglary. The crimes took place in 2013.

He is on parole until 2027.
