A Pulaski County constable recently convicted on federal civil rights charges as well as a felony drug possession count will plead guilty to attempted murder of an FBI agent.

In early March 2020, the FBI converged on constable Gary E. Baldock’s residence to arrest the constable on corruption charges, with Baldock firing a weapon through his window, striking a federal agent.

The agent was treated and released from a local hospital.

Baldock and his fellow Pulaski County constable, Mike Wallace, were recently convicted for violating peoples’ rights by illegally searching or detaining them and taking money or other property without benefit of the legal process.

The two men were convicted of conspiring to violate civil rights and possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) with the intent to distribute. The drug charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

Baldock’s federal trial on the attempted murder charge was scheduled for later this month, but according to WKYT.com, his attorney asked a judge to set a change of plea hearing for next week.
