First responders working eastern Ky. plane crash

First responders have arrived at the site of a plane crash in Breathitt County.

Kentucky State Police and the Breathitt County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to WYMT.com that a plane crashed in the Frozen community of Breathitt County Monday afternoon around 2:00 eastern time.

The crash occurred in a field at the junction of Hwy 1812 and Hwy 378, about 10 miles north of Jackson.

Officials said the FAA out of Indianapolis contacted the Julian Carroll Airport in Jackson about 2:00 Monday afternoon and reported that a “small aircraft” dropped from radar in Breathitt County, according to the television station.

Kentucky State Police and other first responders are working the scene.
