Charles L. Embry, age 93, of Caneyville, KY, passed away Saturday, (May 8, 2021) at the Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Hospital in Leitchfield, KY.
He was born on June 26, 1926 in Caneyville, KY, the son of the late Harrison and Una Higgs Embry.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and was and was a member and Deacon of the Caney Creek United Baptist Church. He loved to fox hunt, do yard work, fish and was an avid UK fan.
He is survived by his wife Betty Whitely Embry, his son, Carl Embry (Doris) of Clarkson, KY and one daughter, Carolyn Woodcock of Munfordville, KY, one step-son, Donnie Mercer (Sandra) and one step-daughter, Patty Johnston (Charlie) both of Leitchfield, four granddaughers, Carina VanMeter (Chuck), Sheryl Chino (Stephen), Brianah Doeden (Brad) and Channa Cann (Chris), seven step-grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, twenty-one step-great grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine Embry, a grand-daughter, Stacy Pierce, three brothers, James, Wavie and Gordie Embry, four sisters, Mary House, Myrtle Garber, and Madeline and Dorothy Embry.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, (May 11, 2021) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Garry Watkins will be officiating. Burial will be in the Caney Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.
