Over the weekend, the Grayson County High School golf team hosted its end-of-season banquet and recognized team award members.
The night was highlighted by recognitions for the two seniors, varsity letters, and academic awards handed down by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA).
The two seniors, who also gave speeches during the ceremony, were Grant Manion and Jaxon Higdon. Manion led the way for the Cougar boys golf team as he qualified for the state championship in both his junior and senior seasons.
Three members of the team, Grant Manion, Jake Rogers, and Maddy Henning, were named to the KHSAA’s all-academic first team. To be named to the first team, student-athletes must have a GPA of at least 3.75.
Joining the trio as honorable mention all-academic was Sophia Elmore, Natalie Garrett, and Anna McKinney.
The complete varsity letter winners for the team were also named. Cougar boys recognized included Jackson Mayes, Blain Brooks, Landon Skees, Jake Rogers, Griffen Chino, Jaxon Higdon & Grant Manion. For the Lady Cougars, Natalie Garrett, Maddy Henning, Sophia Elmore, & Anna McKinney were recipients.
