After a high-speed pursuit spanning two counties, Kentucky State Police arrested a man wanted for murder in Pennsylvania.

Kentucky State Police Post 4 spokesman Scotty Sharp said that on Wednesday night at approximately 11:30, Trooper Elliott Young was conducting stationary radar at the four-mile marker on the Bluegrass Parkway in Hardin County when he observed a Chevrolet Tahoe traveling east at approximately 110 miles per hour.

Sharp said Young attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver, 35-year-old Isaac Sanchez, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, fled eastbound with Young in pursuit. The chase exited at the 21-mile marker in Nelson County before reentering the parkway, traveling west toward Hardin County.

At one point, Sharp said the Tahoe crossed the median and drove west in the eastbound lanes while speeds reached over 100 mph. Troopers and Elizabethtown Police Department set up tire deflation devices at the eight-, four- and one-mile markers as the pursuit exited the Bluegrass Parkway and on to I-65 where Sanchez struck an Elizabethtown Police Department cruiser head-on, causing significant damage to both vehicles.

As troopers and Elizabethtown officers made contact with Sanchez, a short altercation occurred, with the suspect taken into custody without further incident.

After Sanchez was booked into the Hardin County Detention Center, state police learned he was wanted on the criminal homicide warrant.

State police charged Sanchez with speeding, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, fleeing or evading police in a motor vehicle, DUI, criminal mischief, second-degree assault, reckless driving, speeding 26 mph or more over the limit, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, theft of identity, giving an officer a false name along with non-moving violations.

A female passenger was transported to Baptist Health Hardin with non-life threatening injuries. She was not charged in the incident.

Troopers were assisted by Elizabethtown PD, Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, and the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident remains under investigation by Young.
