A female motorist has been arrested by the Clarkson Police Department after admitting to drinking alcohol and smoking methamphetamine and then driving with a child in the car.

Saturday night at approximately 8:30, Clarkson Police Chief Buck Meredith and Office Blake Elmore conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet passenger car driving erratically.

The stop was executed in the parking lot of Barrett’s Marathon, at 918 Millerstown Road, and upon making contact with the driver, 38-year-old April L. Blessitt, of Henderson, Meredith detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from Blessitt.

She was given a field sobriety test and arrested. After being mirandized, Blessitt “admitted to drinking Fireball and smoking meth,” according to the arrest citation.

Her 11-year-old son was also in the vehicle.

Blessitt was charged with DUI and endangering the welfare of a minor and lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
