A Leitchfield man has been arrested after the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office received information about a marijuana grow operation.

At approximately 6:20 Saturday night, Sgt. Zane Greer and Deputies Rick Mehlbauer and Sean Fentress arrived at a residence in the 400 block of Claggett Road and were met by the homeowner, 55-year-old Guy M. Schmitzerle, according to the arrest citation.

Greer informed Schmitzerle why the deputies were there, with the suspect, who Greer said was “extremely cooperative,” taking police to the grow operation located on the property.

In total, police seized seven marijuana plants and 22 ounces of processed marijuana, worth about $20,000 ($2,000 per plant and about $300 per ounce).

Schmitzerle was arrested and charged with felony cultivating marijuana (more than five plants), possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center but is no longer listed as an inmate.
