A man accused of committing four bank robberies in Louisville has made a daring escape from Louisville’s Hall of Justice.

On Tuesday, 30-year-old Anthony Martinez, in custody at Louisville Metro Corrections since his February arrest, used a bed sheet, ladder and garden hose to rappel down the fifth floor of the Hall of Justice, in downtown Louisville near Jefferson Square, authorities said.

In addition to the four bank robberies he committed in Louisville beginning in 2015, Martinez is also accused of robbing two Indiana banks.

The FBI tweeted about his escape: “Anthony Martinez escaped from Louisville Metro Corrections on September 29. He is wanted on both state and federal warrants. Martinez is considered dangerous. If you have info on his location, please contact the #FBI at 502-263-6000.”

Security at the jail has been “dangerously low” over the last few months and that reduction in staff “may have had an impact on the security of the jail,” according to a report by WDRB.com.
