Multiple people have been injured in a house explosion in Brandenburg.
Thursday just before noon, the residence at 910 Old Ekron Road (just off Broadway Street) suffered an explosion that injured four people, including two juveniles. All four victims were transported to University of Louisville Hospital, two by ambulance and two by medical helicopter.
The two adults and two children (around 10- or 11-years-old) were asleep at the time of the explosion, according to media reports. All four were severely burned but alert and in the front yard when first responders arrived.
The family had been renting the home since April.
“The home is a complete loss,” Brandenburg Police Chief Brian Haag told WMMG.com. “It blew out both ends of the home, the windows.”
The ATF and Kentucky State Police arrived to assist local law enforcement. WLKY.com reports LG&E “marked and dug up nearby natural gas lines.”
Investigators continue work to determine the cause of the explosion.
Of course, a home exploded in Millwood in late January killing 44-year-old Angela Young and injuring her seven-year-old daughter. The explosion leveled the home. The state Fire Marshall said the blast was caused by a faulty gas furnace that was leaking propane.
