An emergency room patient at The Medical Center at Bowling Green has been jailed after shooting a nurse and security guard.
While being treated in the emergency room Wednesday night at approximately 11:30, Jeffrey Fields, 42, of Bowling Green, tore off is clothes and the medical equipment attached to the suspect and attacked a security guard with a chair, according to media reports. While security attempted to restrain Fields, he fell to the ground and grabbed a security guard’s holstered handgun and fired a shot (while the firearm remained in the holster), striking another security guard and a nurse in the leg.
Hospital security personnel continued to struggle with Fields until Bowling Green police arrived and used a stun gun to bring Fields under control.
The two victims suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Fields was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, two counts of menacing, and resisting arrest. He is lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail.
