An FBI agent has been shot in Pulaski County as federal authorities arrested one of two constables indicted on corruption charges.

Friday morning, federal law enforcement arrived at a residence on Mountain View Drive, a densely residential area near the Somerset airport. They were there to arrest Constable Gary Baldock, who, along with Constable Mike Wallace, was indicted on civil rights violations after being accused of stealing money from suspects.

Baldock was also shot in the exchange of gunfire.

The wounded agent was treated and later released from a hospital. Baldock is listed in stable condition.

Wallace was arrested without incident.

The indictment handed down by a grand jury says that between Nov. 2018 and Sept. 24, 2019, Wallace and Baldock conspired to “injure, oppress, threaten, and intimidate persons within Pulaski County, Kentucky in the free exercise and enjoyment of a right secured to them by the Constitution and laws of the United States, specifically their right to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures by one acting under color of law and the right to be free from the deprivation of property without due process of law . . .”

The pair face up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
