Police looking for Hart County Jail escapee

Police are searching for inmate who walked away from work release in Hart County.

Wednesday afternoon at approximately 12:40, Jerry W. Britt, 37, of Scottsville, fled work detail on Bluegrass Avenue, just south of Horse Cave, by gaining access to a 2007 Lincoln Navigator. Kentucky State Police located the stolen vehicle in the Shanty Hollow area of Warren County.

Police said Britt is a white male with brown hair and hazel eyes. He stands 5-foot-11 tall and weighs about 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black hoodie and camouflage hat.

Britt’s arrest history includes incarceration for trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetmine), manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine precursors, burglary, theft by unlawful taking (anhydrous ammonia), and tampering with physical evidence.
