A fugitive from Hartford who walked away from a halfway house in Louisville has been captured in Ohio County.

Ohio County Sheriff Tracy Beatty said his office received information on the whereabouts of 35-year-old Joshua Morehead on Wednesday. At approximately 2:00 Wednesday afternoon, the sheriff’s office, Hartford Police Department, Beaver Dam Police Department, and Kentucky State Police surrounded an area in the 200 block of Howard Street, in McHenry.

Beatty said law enforcement observed Morehead attempting to leave the area in a vehicle but when he noticed police he fled on foot. He was caught after a brief chase.

During a search of Morehead, police found methamphetamine in his possession, according to Beatty.

He was arrested and charged by Ohio County authorities with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), while state police served Morehead with a warrant for escape.

He was lodged in the Ohio County Detention Center but is no longer listed as an inmate.

In October 2016 in Ohio County, Morehead was arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia as well as possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
