Two people have been rescued from an Owensboro house fire.

When firefighters arrived on the scene in the 3900 block of Kipling Drive at approximately 1:00 Friday morning, they found flames shooting through the roof of the home, according to media reports, and learned that two people were still inside the residence. Within minutes, though, firefighters rescued the occupants.

The two victims were transported to a local hospital where they were treated for smoke inhalation.

Police said the fire remains under investigation and anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Owensboro Police Department at 270-687-8888.
