GC Fiscal Court: Jail to donate vehicle to animal shelter

At Tuesday afternoon’s Grayson County Fiscal Court meeting, magistrates voted to allow the Grayson County Detention Center to donate a van to the Leitchfield Animal Shelter.

Jailer Jason Woosley said the van, which has about 280,000 miles on the odometer, is no longer being used by the jail, but that the vehicle is in good shape.

Magistrates declared three county owned vehicles as surplus; a 1999 Jeep Cherokee, 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and a 2005 Chevrolet 2500 truck. The vehicles will be sold on govdeals.com.

Fiscal Court additionally approved the 2019 property tax rate set by the Grayson County Public Library Board of Trustees. The approved are as follows: 9.7 cents per $100 of assessed value on real property and 9.7 cents per $100 of assessed value on personal property.

And lastly, magistrates approved the purchase of two dump trucks for a total of $262,750. The trucks will be leased through Magnolia Bank at a 3.42 interest rate. The average monthly payment will be $3,521.75.
