Grayson County’s Laura Vincent wins two Regional Championships; Ethan Pierce sets School Record for Region Title

Grayson County’s Laura Vincent won two regional championships and Ethan Pierce added one of his own to help pace the Cougars this past weekend at the Region 2 championship at Greenwood High School.

The junior Vincent took the High Jump championship by jumping five feet. For the third year in a row, Vincent also won the Pole Vault championship with a mark of eight feet. The run for the three sport athlete didn’t stop there as she also was region runner up in the 100m Hurdles.

The Cougars were able to sweep the Pole Vault event with Pierce setting a new school record en route to his region title of 15 feet.

Continuing to finish with a medal included Emery Crume finishing in 2nd in the Triple Jump with a mark of 33 feet and Kaylee Masden crossing the line 3rd in the 1600m run.

Other notable finishers included Masden finishing 4th in the 800m, Ryan Johnson 4th in the 100m dash, Cameron Wells 4th in the high jump and the Boys 4x200m relay team also finishing in 4th.

Select members of the team will advance to the KHSAA State Track and Field Championship on June 1st at the University of Kentucky.
