Two Leitchfield residents have been arrested on drug charges after behaving erratically at FiveStar.
Monday night at approximately 11:30, Leitchfield Police Department Officers Taylor Logsdon, Keith Harrell and Eugene Cain responded to FiveStar, located at 308 South Main Street, after an employee called Central Dispatch and reported two people were inside the store, and clearly under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Upon the officers arriving, they found 50-year-old Eric Whitmore and 29-year-old Brittany Coleman, outside the store, where Coleman had been crawling around in the parking lot, and trying to put cash into a gas pump. Coleman admitted to police she had just used spice (synthetic marijuana).
Coleman’s arrest citation states that she was “unsteady on her feet and not making any sense,” and upon a search of the suspect, police located a glass pipe and methamphetamine.
Whitmore told officers that he had run out of gas on Shrewsbury Road. LPD Officer Eugene Cain located the vehicle, and inside the car, in plain view, Cain observed a “glass pipe with white residue” on the driver’s seat, according to the arrest citation.
Both suspects were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), public intoxication (controlled substance) and possession of drug paraphernalia. A more extensive search of Coleman was undertaken by a female deputy upon her arrival at the Grayson County Detention Center, with the deputy finding a needle and additional meth on Coleman.
She now faces an additional charge of promoting contraband.
Both are currently lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
