The past seven days in Grayson Co. were bursting at the seams with opportunities for any age group to find something to participate in; here’s a few our staff participated in.  Friday evening, Sam Gormley headed to Hartford to bring you the details of Cougar football victory.  The Cougars stand 4 – 0 on the season; but they weren’t the only program Sam highlighted Friday evening.  Listen to the link below to Sam’s segment, “Cougars In The Classroom” with guest Amber Phillips, GCMS Counselor.  Phillips has spearheaded a new mentoring program for students at the middle school.

Sam joined the In The Know crew Friday morning to highlight to upcoming football game, and a glimpse back over the previous week in all Cougar sports.  Click the link below to listen to his full recap.

I got registered Friday for Get Moving Grayson County, which begins on September 17th.  This is the second year the GC Extension Office is hosting this two month event.  If you would like to participate you still have time.  Just register here: click

Jamie Bratcher, Wednesday Co-Host of Shop Local Leitchfield (103.9 The Moose), headed to the 14th Annual St. Paul Car Show Saturday morning for the Schnitzel lunch plate.  She gave it two thumbs up!

I was out of town Friday, and under the weather Saturday, but intended to walk in the 7th Annual Walk-4-Water at the Leitchfield City Park.  Clinton Street Church of Christ holds this event annually, and raised over $11,500 to build clean water wells in Haiti.  Walk4Water is a National Campaign, and you can still donate if you would desire:  click

Here are some statistics from the World Health Organization telling a little bit why  Walk4Water:

  • 844 million people lack even a basic drinking-water service, including 159 million people who are dependent on surface water.
  • Globally, at least 2 billion people use a drinking water source contaminated with faeces.
  • Contaminated water can transmit diseases such diarrhoea, cholera, dysentery, typhoid, and polio. Contaminated drinking water is estimated to cause 502,000 diarrhoeal deaths each year.
  • In low- and middle-income countries, 38% of health care facilities lack an improved water source, 19% do not have improved sanitation, and 35% lack water and soap for hand washing.   Link to WHO
Caneyville Christian Church celebrates Grandparents Day

Sunday, Mark celebrated Grandparents Day at Caneyville Christian Church, and it was Team Day at Potter’s Hope Ministries for me.  I failed to get pictures of everyone in their team gear.  There’s a lot of amazing places to worship in Grayson Co., and if your church has an event coming up, please email to me so I can help you promote that: communitycalendar@k105.com

Listen to Shop Local Leitchfield Wednesday morning on Leitchfield’s Country Station 103.9 The Moose at 8:00 a.m. as it’s Where Are We Going Wednesday; we will highlight all of the opportunities coming up in Grayson County for the next week.
