Sunday night at approximately 10:20, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 3500 block of Elizabethtown Road, in Clarkson, on the report of a semi-truck accident.

Upon arriving at the scene, Deputies Kelsey Overton and Brandon Rafferty found that the rear trailer of a Core-Mark semi-truck had left the road and traveled in a ditch before reentering the roadway and flipping onto its side.

The driver, whose identity was not available at the scene, told police that as he traveled east, and was coming out of a curve (commonly referred to as Bee Hive Curve), a westbound passenger car forced him to swerve to avoid a collision (the passenger car continued westbound). As the semi swerved, the rear trailer entered the ditch line for about 75 feet, striking a utility pole and flipping onto the roadway, blocking both lanes of traffic.

The driver was uninjured. The semi was carrying cigarettes.

Leitchfield fireman Andrew Whobrey, who was in the area at the time of the accident, assisted with traffic control.
