Wednesday night at approximately 11:55, the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a son stabbing his mother.

Upon arriving at the scene about 12 miles south of London, police found that 34-year-old Charles Perkins, of London, had, in an unprovoked attack, stabbed his mother in the neck with a fork.

Perkins’ mother said her son was “under the influence,” according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, and as police tried to take Perkins into custody, he resisted. Authorities tased the suspect in an attempt to obtain compliance, but police said tasing Perkins had very little effect on his behavior.

He was eventually arrested and charged with assault, wanton endangerment, resisting arrest, menacing, and alcohol intoxication. Additionally, police said Perkins was wanted on three warrants out of Clark and Boyd Counties.

He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond.
