Kentucky State Police captured the 2018 Best Looking Cruiser Contest of the American Association of State Troopers.

Kentucky and Georgia finished in a virtual tie, with nearly 30,000 votes, but because KSP had more “Love” clicks they won the Facebook contest by a thin margin.

In the battle between Kentucky and Georgia, which the Peach State outfit was winning by about 2,000 votes less than 24 hours before the end of the contest, state police turned to the power of social media, asking the Big Blue Nation to show support for KSP in Twitter posts tagged to UK football coach Mark Stoops and UK Athletics.

That move was after Georgia football coach Kirby Smart went to Twitter, at the behest of the Georgia State Patrol, to urge Bulldog fans to vote for the Georgia cruiser.

“Wow — we are overwhelmed by the support of Kentuckians, news and radio stations, Universities who shared it any everyone who voted! Special thanks to the AAST for hosting the contest and Georgia State Police for being an awesome competitor,” KSP said in a Twitter post.

KSP’s cruiser will be featured on the American Association of State Troopers cover of its “America’s Best Looking Trooper Cruisers 2019 Wall Calendar.”
