Lightning strikes oil tank in Barren Co.

An oil tank in Barren County was struck by lightning.

The tank, owned by Bluegrass Exploration, was holding 30 barrels and weighed thousands of pounds. When it was struck, the tank was propelled 300 to 400 feet in the air and traveled about 200 feet from where it was located, according to a report by WBKO.com.

The East Barren, Temple Hill and Summer Shade Fire Departments responded to the lightning strike. Glasgow/Barren County Emergency Management also arrived at the scene.
