A former Campbell County District Court Judge has been sentenced to 20 years for human trafficking and sex crimes.
Timothy Nolan, 72, pled guilty in February to 21 counts of human trafficking, promoting human trafficking of minors and unlawful transaction with a minor. The crimes involved a total of 19 victims, many heroin addicts and young runaways. He’ll be eligible for parole in four years.
Court records said Nolan “used money, drugs, housing, threats to call the probation office, and violent acts, as means to coerce, deceive and force the women to engage in commercial sexual activity,” according to multiple media reports. Nolan’s criminal activity dates back to 2004.
Nolan was a Campbell County judge in the 1970s and 1980s, recently served as a Campbell County Board of Education member, and was an active member of the Republican Party.
Nolan will also pay $110,000 in asset forfeiture to the Human Trafficking Victims Fund. He faced up to 70 years in prison.
