A man who was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over by police has been arrested after leading authorities on a high-speed pursuit.
London police said that late Wednesday night an officer executed a traffic stop on a vehicle with a passenger, 30-year-old Christopher Joseph, of London, who had a warrant for his arrest. Police said the officer asked Joseph to step out of the vehicle, but he locked the door and crawled into the driver’s lap. He then put the car in reverse, striking the officer’s vehicle.
Joseph then shoved the driver out of the vehicle before leading officers on a high-speed pursuit. Police say the pursuit ended after Joseph pulled into a driveway, hitting a constable’s vehicle in the process.
Joseph, who admitted to police that he had been using methamphetamine all day, was arrested and charged with fleeing or evading police, wanton endangerment of a police officer, assault, DUI, tampering with physical evidence, resisting arrest, and two counts of criminal mischief along with moving violations. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center on a $20,000 bond.
