A Caneyville man arrested on January 9 on multiple child sex charges has been indicted by the Grayson County Grand Jury.

Jeffrey D. Elmore, 49, was indicted on a total of 14 counts, including eight counts of promoting a minor under the age of 16 in sex performance (class B felony), and six counts of possessing/viewing matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor (class D felony).

The indictment says in part, “That on, about or between December 1, 2017 and January 9, 2018 … Elmore committed the offense of promoting a minor under sixteen in a sex performance, when he, knowing the character or content thereof, he produced, directed or promoted any performances which includes sexual conduct by a minor.”

Elmore was originally arrested by the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch on three child pornography charges.

Kentucky State Police spokesman Jeff Gregory said at the time that police executed a search warrant at Elmore’s Caneyville residence, located at 170 Campbell Street, and seized equipment used to facilitate the crime.

Elmore is currently free on a $25,000 cash bond, with him being a “threat to the community” a reason for his bond amount, according to the indictment.

The “special conditions” set forth by the indictment upon Elmore making bond precludes him from “possessing or using computers or electronic equipment, and to not be around anyone under the age of 18 without being within sight and sound of the child’s parent.”

If convicted of all charges and sentenced to serve consecutive terms, Elmore faces 190 years in prison.
