A Somerset woman has been charged with criminal abuse after forcing her 14-year-old daughter to drink alcohol until she fell off a chair face-first.

Police arrested 34-year-old Miranda G. Polston after authorities received a tip that there was a video on social media showing Polston forcing her daughter to drink. Police obtained a copy of the video, which contained people laughing at the teenager, as well as Polston saying she could get a million dollars from MTV for the video.

Polston told police that she had caught her daughter drinking and gave her alcohol to punish her and show her alcohol is bad, according to media reports.

The video, in which one can hear the girl making gurgling sounds, shows the teen to be “highly intoxicated,” according to police, and she eventually falls out of a chair face-first.

Police said the video will not be released because the victim is a juvenile.

In addition to facing a felony charge of first-degree criminal abuse, probation officers served Polston with a warrant for allegedly violating the conditions of her release on another (felony) charge.

Polston is being held in the Pulaski County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.
