A Hardin County Detention Center inmate enjoyed nearly 30 minutes of freedom after escaping custody.
Police said 35-year-old Christopher Carson, of Elizabethtown, escaped from the jail Friday night at about 7:25 as he took out some trash, according to a report in the News Enterprise.
Local law enforcement was notified, and after a 25 minute search of the area Carson was captured by a Kentucky State Trooper while walking on Hwy 31-W.
In early February, Carson began serving a four-month sentence for DUI, with aggravating circumstances, his third such offense.
He now faces an escape charge, a class D felony.
