On Tuesday morning at approximately 9:55, the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office, Beaver Dam and Hartford Police Departments and Kentucky State Police were dispatched to assist the Morgantown Police Department in the pursuit of a fleeing suspect driving a stolen vehicle.
The Morgantown PD pursued a 2003 Dodge Avenger, being driven by 30 year-old Tonya Burnette, of Beaver Dam, into Ohio County on Hwy 231, near Cromwell.
Police said Ohio County authorities spotted the Dodge on Hwy 23, north of the Western Kentucky Parkway. Kentucky State Police attempted to use stop-sticks on the tires of the vehicle, but were unsuccessful. Ohio County deputies, though, were able to stop the vehicle a short distance later.
Burnette and her passenger, 25 year-old Andrea Kiper, also of Beaver Dam, were taken into custody.
Burnette was charged with four counts of wanton endangerment, two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and fleeing or evading police. She was also served with outstanding warrants.
Kiper was arrested on four outstanding warrants for felony parole violations.
Both suspects are being held in the Ohio County Detention Center.
