The Leitchfield Fire Department responded Monday to a truck fire on Basham Drive.
Firefighters arrived at the scene Monday afternoon at approximately 4:45 and found a Chevrolet truck fully engulfed in flames. LFD personnel quickly extinguished the fire that engulfed the truck as well as a grass fire caused by the vehicle fire. The truck was completely destroyed.
The fire began when the truck’s owner was attempting to pull down a tree with a thick rope tied to the rear of the truck. It appears, according to Leitchfield Fire Chief Tim Duvall, that while trying to pull the tree down the truck became overheated and caught fire.
No one was injured and firefighters cleared the scene at approximately 5:30 p.m.
