A man has been sentenced to nearly 30 years in federal prison for producing and possessing child pornography.
Steven R. Buchanan, 46, of Madisonville, was sentenced to 29 years, six months in federal prison after being found guilty on four counts of producing child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography, according to U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky, Michael A. Bennett.
There is no parole in the federal system.
Buchanan, prosecutors said, possessed over 1,200 images and four videos of child pornography.
“Buchanan also took lascivious videos and pictures of two young girls while they were in his bedroom,” Bennett said.
In addition to the nearly 30 years in prison, upon his release Buchanan was ordered to pay $24,000 in restitution.
The case was investigated by the Office of Homeland Security, FBI, Kentucky State Police, and the Madisonville Police Department.
