Thelma Allen Self, age 94, of Tar Hill, KY, passed away Sunday, (July 7, 2024) at Grayson Nursing and Rehabilitation in Leitchfield, KY. She was born on May 3, 1930 in Grayson County, KY, the daughter of the late Luther and Pearl Minton Milliner.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, walking, being outdoors and quilting. Thelma also loved spending time with, and checking in on, her church family and friends. She was Avon lady for 58 years and a member of the Mt. Hebron Gospel Mission Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Tammy Self Langdon (Mike) and Mimi Self Stinson (Roger) both of Leitchfield; one daughter-in-law, Debbie Howard Self of Leitchfield; four grandchildren, Brad Stinson (Lizabeth), Amy Hatfield, Sara Cooper (Chad), and Shannon Welch; four great-grandchildren, Blake Aubrey (Vanda), Bailey Swift (Holly), Eli Wayne and Emma Kate Cooper; four great-great grandchildren, Anthony, Kenley, Hollis and one on the way; and one brother, Luis Milliner of Cecilia. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 74 years, Edward Earl Self; one son, Dale Self; one grandson, Ryan Dale Stinson; five brothers, Ernest, Pete, Herchell, Leslie and Charles Milliner; and two sisters, Glennie Drane and Mable Milliner.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, (July 11, 2024) at the Mt. Hebron Gospel Mission Church in Mt. Hebron, KY. Bro. Jimmy Douthitt will be officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hebron Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday and will move to the Mt. Hebron Gospel Mission Church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
