A medical episode resulted in a vehicle crashing into a Clarkson residence.

Saturday morning at approximately 2:10, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Jason Luedke, Leitchfield Police Department Sgt. Keith Harrell, the Clarkson Fire Department, and EMS responded to the accident in the 5400 block of Elizabethtown Road.

Upon arriving at the scene, police found that a Nissan Altima, traveling east on Elizabethtown Road, left the roadway, traveled through four yards, three fences, multiple bushes, and one small tree before striking the bedroom of a wood-frame home. Upon hitting the residence, the car bounced to the left, wedging the vehicle between a large tree and the structure.

In total, the vehicle traveled about 475 feet after leaving the roadway, and upon impact displaced the home’s foundation, according to fire officials.

It was determined through an investigation by Luedke, Harrell and EMS personnel that the young male driver, from Leitchfield, had suffered a medical emergency, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. The driver was the lone occupant of the Nissan.

There were three people inside the home, with two people sleeping only feet from where the Altima impacted the home.

No injuries were reported due the vehicle striking the home, but the driver of the Altima was transported by EMS to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center.

Because of the nature of the incident, Harrell responded to the scene due to Luedke being a considerable distance from the accident site when the call went out.
