The identity of the woman found deceased near a Clarkson apartment complex has been released.
Grayson County Coroner Joe Brad Hudson said the decedent has been identified as 66-year-old Irene Thompson, of Clarkson.
Thompson’s body was discovered Monday morning just before 10:00 about 100 yards from Brentwood Manor Apartments, at 328 North Patterson Street, where Thompson was a resident.
She was pronounced deceased at the scene by Hudson.
Clarkson Police Chief Buck Meredith and Grayson County Chief Deputy Jarrod responded and worked the scene before contacting Kentucky State Police.
According to Kentucky State Police Public Affairs Officer Scotty Sharp, troopers and detectives are currently conducting a death investigation. Sharp said Monday night that police, at this point, do not believe foul play was involved in the death. But the preliminary autopsy results, which generally take one to two days to receive, should provide additional insight.
The body was transported by Hudson to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville for the autopsy.
