A Hardin County woman wanted for a felony parole violation, and her husband, are facing multiple charges after leading Kentucky State Police on a pursuit where speeds reached over 100 miles per hour.

Troopers arrested Kayla S. Clark, 25, and her husband, Elijah A. Clark, 21, both of Elizabethtown, Wednesday morning after Kayla Clark fled a traffic stop as their vehicle was exiting northbound I-65 at Elizabethtown exit 91A, according to The News-Enterprise.

Kayla Clark, driving a 2006 Pontiac, accelerated as the trooper attempted the stop, with a baggie of methamphetamine being tossed from the passenger window. Police located the baggie, which contained over two grams of the drug.

Kayla Clark fled onto the westbound Western Kentucky Parkway where speeds reached 110 mph. The Pontiac exited at White Mills and on to westbound Hwy 84 (Sonora Hardin Springs Road). The chase continued for several miles before the Pontiac left the road near the intersection of Hwy 84 and Hwy 357, just south of Hodgenville, entered a field and burst into flames, according to the newspaper.

Kayla Clark fled on foot but was quickly arrested, while her husband immediately surrendered.

Kayla Clark was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), two counts of fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle, on foot), tampering with physical evidence, speeding 26 mph or more over the limit, and reckless driving along with several moving and non-moving violations. She was also served with a parole violation warrant for a felony offense.

Elijah Clark was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and tampering with physical evidence.

Both were lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center. Kayla Clark is being held on a $75,000 cash bond while Elijah Clark is being held on a partially secured $75,000 bond.
