KSP continues to investigate violent, deadly home invasion in Richmond

Police continue to investigate the violent, deadly home invasion in Madison County that resulted in the murder of a young lawyer.

Kentucky State Police is leading the investigation into the death of 32-year-old Jordan Morgan, daughter of former state representative C. Wesley Morgan, 71, who was injured in the Tuesday morning assault.

Jordan Morgan, who previously worked in politics, only recently began working at the Reminger law office in Lexington.

The home invasion occurred Tuesday morning at approximately 4:30 at the Morgans’ residence on Willis Branch Road in Richmond. Kentucky State Police said the intruders, and apparently C. Wesley Morgan, exchanged gunfire during the incident, with the suspect[s] then fleeing the home. The former politician and current businessman was transported to University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center where he was treated and released.

No arrests have been made.

C. Wesley Morgan served as state representative for District 81, which covers part of Madison County and includes all of Richmond and Berea, from 2016 until 2019. In 2020, he ran unsuccessfully for a U.S. Senate seat.
