A contract food worker at the Green River Correctional Complex (GRCC) in Muhlenberg County has been arrested for having a sexual relationship with an inmate, Kentucky State Police said.

On Tuesday, state police responded to the medium/minimum security prison after being contacted by prison officials about a “contract employee being involved in a sexual relationship with an inmate,” authorities said.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of Elizabeth D. Koonce, 38, of Powderly.

Koonce is a food service employee for GRCC with Aramark, a contract company that supplies food services at the facility. Her Facebook page says Koonce is the “Kitchen Supervisor” at the prison.

She was arrested and charged with third-degree rape and lodged in the Muhlenberg County Detention Center. She is no longer listed as an inmate at the facility.

GRCC is a 982-bed, all male prison in Central City.
