In what is hopefully an anomaly, there were four murder-suicides in Kentucky this weekend.
The initial incident occurred in Taylorsville Friday afternoon at approximately 3:30 after the Spencer County Sheriff’s Office discovered two people dead at a residence on Glenview Drive, near Taylorsville Lake.
The bodies of 51-year-old Karen Young and 55-year-old Paul Bewley were found on the home’s front porch.
Kentucky State Police said Young had been shot and Bewley had a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Officials told WAVE News that the couple was married.
Kentucky State Police is investigating.
On Saturday morning, Lexington police responded to the 500 block of North Upper Street and found 10-year-old Landon Hayes and 22-year-old Tyrus Lathem dead of gunshot wounds.
The Fayette County Coroner’s Office told news outlets that it appears the deaths are the result of a murder-suicide. Officials said Lathem shot the boy and then himself inside the residence, which is owned by Hayes’ mother.
The relationship between Lathem and Hayes is unclear.
Sunday morning at approximately 2:30, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office responded to Adalynn Circle, near the Three Springs area of the county. Police responded to the home after the husband, 60-year-old Norman D. Johnson, called 911 and said he had just shot his wife, 43-year-old Kimberly A. Johnson.
When authorities arrived, they found the Johnsons deceased, with Norman Johnson perishing from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Then, Sunday night at approximately 8:45, Nicholasville police were dispatched to a domestic disturbance on Linden Lane, in the heart of Nicholasville.
Police said it appears the husband shot and killed the wife before entering his vehicle and taking his own life.
The family’s three children were home at the time of the incident but were unharmed.
