Kentucky State Police seized nearly 20 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop in Hardin County.

State police said that Sunday night at approximately 9:00, troopers stopped a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu on the southbound I-65 exit ramp at the 94-mile marker at Elizabethtown for traffic violations.

Upon making contact with the driver, 31-year-old Michael B. Davis, Jr., of Pembroke Pines, Florida, troopers detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. During a search of the Chevrolet, troopers found approximately 17 pounds of marijuana.

Police said the marijuana was discovered in a duffel bag, and in the “spare tire area” of the trunk.

Davis was arrested and charged with trafficking in marijuana (greater than five pounds), failure to or improper signal, license plate not legible, and license to be in possession.

David was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center on a $50,000 cash bond.
