A Shelbyville man has been charged with abandoning his two small children to meet what he thought was a 15-year-old girl for sex.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office arrested 28-year-old Nathanial A. Johnson and charged him with four counts of unlawful use of electronic communications system to induce a minor to engage in sexual or other prohibited activities (victim under 12), two counts of abandonment of a minor, and four counts of attempted distribution of obscene material to a minor (victim under 18).
Johnson communicated with an undercover officer posing as a 15-year-girl named Madison between December 10 and 15, police said. The suspect is accused of sending nude photos of himself as well as a video of him committing a sex act.
When he left his two children, ages one- and three-years-old, home alone to have sex with the girl, he was arrested at a traffic stop. Johnson had arranged to meet the “girl” at a volleyball court on Don Cubert Drive in Shelbyville, near the Lake Shelby Park and Campground.
He is being held in the Shelby County Detention Center.
The investigation into Johnson was conducted by the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
