Blood evidence in murdered Hart Co. woman’s home, car, suspect’s home

Additional information on the murder of a Hart County woman has been released.

William “Billy” Burden, 53, of Upton, has been arrested and charged with murdering his estranged wife, 27-year-old Erica Burden, of Bonnieville. The victim went missing Tuesday after dropping her daughter off at school in Bonnieville.

Her body was discovered in a sink hole near Upton Thursday morning at approximately 10:15. William Burden was arrested soon after the discovery of Erica Burden’s body.

In the latest development, “suspected blood evidence” was discovered at Erica Burden’s home and inside her vehicle, which was found at Bonnieville Elementary School, state police said. Authorities also said the victim was seen with William Burden Tuesday morning around 8:00 near the Bonnieville Dollar General Store.

On Wednesday, Kentucky State Police searched William Burden’s residence and found additional blood evidence and “other items connected to Erica Burden.”

William Burden is lodged in the LaRue County Detention Center where he’s been charged with murder (domestic violence), tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse.
