A motorcyclist has been killed in Barren County while fleeing police.

Saturday morning at approximately 12:45, Kentucky State Police responded to Scottsville Road (Hwy 31-E) after being requested by the Glasgow Police Department to investigate a fatal accident.

According to state police, the preliminary investigation indicated Glasgow police responded to a physical domestic altercation on Grandview Avenue. Upon the officers’ arrival, a motorcycle, being driven by 34-year-old Joshua Hartigan, of Westmoreland, Tennessee, fled the scene.

Officers pursued the motorcycle as it fled, traveling toward and turning on to Scottsville Road. Police said near the 6600 block, Hartigan failed to negotiate a curve and his motorcycle exited the roadway.

Hartigan was pronounced dead at the scene by the Barren County Coroner’s Office. Hartigan was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, KSP said.
