Man found murdered at residence on Hwy 79, just outside Morgantown

Kentucky State Police is conducting a murder investigation in Butler County.

State police said that on Wednesday afternoon, authorities located a deceased male at the residence at 2739 Caneyville Road (Hwy 79). The deceased male was identified as 57-year-old Michael Embry, of Morgantown. Foul play is suspected in the death, police said.

Embry’s body has been transported to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Madisonville for autopsy.

No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing and being led by KSP detectives.

This murder scene is about three-and-a-half miles south of the site of a triple murder on Lonnie Snodgrass Road, just off the 6000 block of Caneyville Road.

Joseph M. Carey, of Bowling Green, was arrested at the scene and charged with killing his estranged wife, 30-year-old Angela Carey and her parents, 79-year-old Charles W. McGranahan and 63-year-old Lupe V. McGranahan.
