A Calhoun man has been charged with murder, first-degree assault and several other charges following a Kentucky State Police investigation into a three-vehicle crash in McLean County that claimed three lives, including a toddler.
Kentucky State Police arrested 24-year-old Dylan C. Howard, and charged him with three counts of murder, first-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment, DUI (controlled substance), first-degree criminal abuse (child under 12), trafficking in a controlled substance, theft of motor vehicle registration plate, failure to maintain insurance, and failure to wear a seat belt.
Howard is being held in the Daviess County Detention Center on a $100,000 cash bond.
The crash occurred on the morning of March 18 on Hwy 81 about four miles north of Calhoun, and just south of the Daviess County line.
Kentucky State Police said that Howard’s northbound Chevrolet Malibu crossed the center line and sideswiped a dump truck before crashing head-on into a Toyota RAV4, being driven by 35-year-old Joshua Fox, of Nortonville.
Killed in the crash were Fox and two of Howard’s passengers, 23-year-old Shawna Rodney and three-year-old Emberlyn Howard, both of Calhoun. Another juvenile in Howard’s vehicle as well as Howard were airlifted from the scene.
The driver of the dump truck, Brian Korb, 53, of Dawson Springs, was arrested at the scene and charged with DUI. He was uninjured in the collision.
