Two eastern Kentucky residents have been jailed after a cooperative investigation by law enforcement agencies resulted in the seizure of two pounds of methamphetamine.
Laurel County Sheriff John Root said the investigation was initiated by the Barbourville Police Department and culminated in a traffic stop by Laurel County deputies Sunday night.
During a search of the Dodge Journey the suspects occupied, police located two pounds of methamphetamine in two bags and a firearm.
Police arrested the driver, 50-year-old James J. Wagers, of London, who was taken into custody by the DEA and charged with distributing methamphetamine. He’s being held on no bond in Laurel County Corrections.
Also arrested was his passenger, 38-year-old Sonya A. Rogers, also of London. She was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is being held in Laurel County Corrections on a $10,000 cash bond.
